Question Answer

What is the class schedule, and who are the teachers this year?

Refer to the Class Schedule page for information on when classes are, who teaches them, and teacher bios.
How do I get more information about the school and schedule a visit? Call the school to schedule a visit at 650-595-4830. During peak visiting seasons (early spring/summer), visits are often grouped together or an Open House is held.
How does the registration and enrollment process work?

Registration is typically held in early March for returning and alumni parents and in mid-March for new parents. A $45 non-refundable application fee holds your place in the class until July 1. During registration, the classes and yearly jobs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In May, class placement letters are sent.

Your tuition payment and refundable maintenance deposit are due on July 1 to hold your place in class.

In July an enrollment packet will be emailed to you after receipt of your tuition. It includes a confirmation of the registration information, the participating parent's medical form (TB test), the preadmission health evaluation (doctor's clearance), an emergency medical authorization, a list of parent co-op responsibilities, a photo release and a fall calendar. The completed forms are due back by August 1, or before your first day of class.

There's a chance we may need to drop our class -- can I get a refund? We understand that families sometimes have to drop their Little Hands class due to conflicts or other commitments. To address these challenges, Little Hands has implemented the following tuition reimbursement policy:
  • For families exercising the single-payment discount: Class drops before September 30 will receive 75% of tuition reimbursed. Class drops before December 10 will receive 25% of tuition reimbursed. Class drops after December 10 will not be eligible for reimbursement.
  • For families exercising the two-payment plan: Class drops before September 30 will receive 50% of first payment tuition reimbursed. Drops after September 30 will not be eligible for reimbursement. Once second payment is submitted, class drops before December 10 receive 50% of second payment tuition reimbursed. Drops after December 10 will not be eligible for reimbursement.
  • Maintenance deposits will be reimbursed to those in good standing approximately two weeks after a Maintenance Day is worked.
No tuition reimbursements will be issued without a completed Drop/Transfer Request form. Drop/Transfer requests should be submitted to the Treasurer at P.O. Box 675, Belmont, CA, 94002. Alternately, you may submit the form online, at http://www.littlehands.org/scripts/change/add.php. The date the form is received (not the last date of attendance) will be used to calculate the reimbursement amount.
What classes are full? How does the waitlist work?

If you've missed registration, don't despair! Class availability varies periodically as families add, drop, and switch classes. Once you've reviewed the written information and visited the school, you and the registrar can discuss the class(es) that best meets your needs and current availability.

If the class you want is available, you may hold a place by paying the $45 non-refundable application fee. If the class you want is full, the application fee holds your place on the wait list. You can be in one class and still be waitlisted for another.

What if my child is a few weeks too old or too young for the class that I think is appropriate or convenient?

After over twenty years of experimentation, Little Hands has arrived at these age ranges (8-13 months, 13-18 months, 18-22 months, and 22-33 months) as reasonable age groupings for our classes.

The birthdates and age ranges outlined in the Class Schedule are firm. We will not consider any changes to the class age groupings until after September 1, and only on a case-by-case basis.

At no time will we admit children younger than 8 months as of September 1. We encourage parents of children younger than 8 months as of September 1 to register for a second baby class which will start in the Spring semester.
