Little Hands is a place to learn, play, and discover together; a place where you’ll find support, family friendships, and partners in parenting; a safe place where you and your child will feel like you belong. As a parent and child co-op program located in Belmont, we help parents learn and grow alongside their children.
At Little Hands, parents learn and have fun, too! There is nothing like working together, as a village, as a team, to help children learn and grow, and to help parents sharpen their parenting skills and find support. Parents enjoy teacher-led parent education discussions, and also help at stations to nurture, coach, and learn from all of the children.
2021-2022 Class Offerings
BABIES - FRIDay AM
DAY/TIME: Friday mornings 9:15 to 11:15am
AGES: 6 to 13 months
Parents attend once per week with their child in our baby class. This class is a pure delight. As little ones go from sitting to crawling to walking, they have an entire “neighborhood” of families supporting them in the classroom. And parents find tons of support, too, as this community pulls together to help one another in this challenging stage of the parenting journey. The baby class starts a little slower as parents and babies learn to separate, trust and explore. And don’t worry about naptime - it always works out - really! Parents participate in teacher led discussions which focus on child development and parenting strategies monthly via zoom.
Younger Toddlers - Wednesday AM
DAY TIME: Wednesday AM, 9:15 am to 11:15 am
AGES: 12 to 19 months
Parents attend once a week with their children in our toddler class. These adventurous one-year olds are a fabulous mix - some just taking steps and some ready to conquer the world. Children will have ample opportunity to explore indoor and outdoor learning spaces in a safe and age-appropriate environment including early experiences in art, sand and water play, playdough, and fun sensory experiences. Parents find great support as the children develop through the joys and challenges of this busy age group! Parents participate in teacher led discussions which focus on child development and parenting strategies every 3 weeks.
older Toddlers - Tuesday AM
DAY/TIME: Tuesday mornings, 9:15am to 11:15am
AGES: 18 to 24 months
Parents and children attend class together once per week. These older toddlers are busy learning through play as they challenge their growing bodies and minds while exploring their interests in our indoor and outdoor spaces. Climbing, riding, painting, building, singing, and exploring sensory activities including water, sand, playdough, and more, fill their mornings as they form first friendships and develop emerging social skills. Parents participate in teacher led discussions which focus on child development and parenting strategies every 3 weeks.
TwoS - TUEs/ThURS
DAY/TIME: Tuesday and Thursday 11:45am to 1:45am
AGES: Must be 2 by September 1
We are so excited to bring back our Twos Lunch Bunch Class this year! Just as in our morning Twos class parents attend once per week, and children attend twice per week. During our mid-class break, the children will enjoy lunch in class before they return to play. Class ends at 1:45 and our experience tells us you'll probably get a terrific nap after class. This is an amazing year during which we, together, have the privilege of playing and learning alongside the children as they move from toddlerhood to becoming preschoolers. It’s a year when parents need support, too, and as a class we work through the “terrific two’s” together. These two-year-olds also get to experience a “new space” because our older classes take place in the back with our bigger classroom and expansive play structure. So much to do, explore, learn, pretend, create and more – our Two’s program has it all. Parents share in teacher-led class discussions monthly via a mix of in-class time and evening zoom sessions.
ThreeS/FourS - MON/ WED/Fri
DAY/TIME: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 9:00 to Noon
AGES: Must be 3 or 4 by September 1
Parents attend once per week, and children attend three times per week in our Threes/Fours. Drop off begins in Week #2. (Note: Drop off is not mandatory. Also, children who are not ready or able to be dropped off will need a parent to stay until a successful transition can be made.) Our three and four year olds enjoy all the fun of our Little Hands classes with some added preschool opportunities. They learn through discovery and play as they spend time creating, imagining, cooperating, participating in group activities, and making new friends. Lots of science, reading, baking, and special projects make learning so much fun! In our extended format, children enjoy a lunch together at the end of class (brown bag lunch provided by the parent). In lieu of in-class discussions, parents in the Threes/Fours enjoy 3 evening parent education discussions throughout the school year.
Mixed Age family clASS - Wednesday PM
DAY/TIME: Wednesday evenings 5:15pm to 7:15 pm
AGES: 12 months thru 4 years (siblings up to age 5)
Parents attend once per week with their child in our Wednesday evening Family Class. This wonderful class is the perfect fit for working families that are unable to enjoy the benefits of co-oping during the day. The mixed age range is also great for families with siblings. The Wednesday PM class is also a favorite for parents who just want one extra class per week or who are involved in other daytime programs. Families in this class share dinner instead of snack - it’s like a little family reunion each week! The mixed ages allow for a wonderful dynamic between kids, and families build a true sense of community and friendship! Parents participate in teacher led discussions which focus on child development and parenting strategies every 3 weeks.
Parent Connection Class
DAY/TIME: Thursday evenings, 7:45 pm - 9:00 pm
AGES: 1 - 7 years old
This class will meet virtually two times a month on Thursday nights to offer extra support and connection for parents of children 1 to 7 years old.
Whether your child is enrolled in another Little Hands class or not, this virtual class will offer parents a chance to connect, share parenting concerns, listen to guest speakers and specific topics, and break into age-specific groups. Our virtual parent connections during COVID proved so strong and rewarding, that we want to continue to offer this support to parents during 2021-2022. Join us!
Our rooms, play areas, toys and weekly activities are specifically selected for their little hands and growing minds.
